As a vocalist and recording artist, Jimmy Parker wakes up the music scene with a refreshing, original style and a unique presence all his own. His childhood was spent growing up in Virginia.
His parents saw at an early age he was into music as he copied his
dad’s style of playing the piano by ear. They enrolled him for the next
six years into piano training, honing his musical skills until he
learned a few chords on the guitar and joined a rock n roll band at the age of thirteen. All through his teen years he played with a band on weekends
earning his spending money and learning to sing. He also sang in the
church and in the high school choir. After getting his Bachelor's degree (he currently holds a Master's degree)
he spent four years in the military (U.S. Army) working as a
photo-journalist, participating in some local theatre groups around the
bases he was stationed, and performing music on and off the military
compounds. Jimmy, set out for his musical career.
In 1990 after traveling on his own around the country and playing many places he moved to Nashville, TN
where he currently resides. In 1996 his late wife took ill with a
debilatating lung disease and for the next seven years he gave up the
dream of music completely to take care of her until she passed away in
March of 2003. Since 2004 and to date, he has recorded over 30 songs,
several of which he has written himself, and has released 3 cd albums
on his own label, Heart2Heart records. After 20 years of living in Nashville,
working as a school teacher to make his living while pursuing music on
a professional level in his spare time, he is starting to get his
musical talents noticed. Fans from all over the world are being exposed
to this man by way of the internet...
Many radio stations on the evolutionary edge of airplay on the
internet are starting to discover and play his music and are finding
out how popular this artist can be with their listeners. His music
touches not just hearts but souls in the audience. His music comes
across as emotional, true to life, with a unique, original and honest
vocal.
Though he does not consider himself a star, he does, humbly, call himself a true artist who wants to keep the sound of traditional country music
alive. He has a edge and a boldness to his approach to singing and
interpreting a song and does not hesitate to record songs or sing songs
that could and may push the envelope a little bit without losing the
innocence of what country music is all about. Jimmy Parker, as noted by
his producer, Danny Muhammad, is
"The Real Deal."
